Florence Anderson Ruberg, 101 years young, was born July 4,1909. She passed into eternal life on July 6, 2010 in Ashland, WI.
Florence was the daughter of Ed and Alfreda Anderson whose families immigrated to America from Vastergatland, Sweden and were considered to be some of the original settlers of northern Wisconsin. The families settled in the Grandview, Wisconsin area where Ed and Alfreda met, married and had seven children: Florence, Royal, Lillian, Elsie, Walter, Harold and Melvin. As a child, Florence attended the Water Tank School east of Mason. As a young woman, Florence married Leonard Ruberg and had two children: Evelyn Ruberg Bartol and Daniel Ruberg. They moved to California for a short time when her children were quite young. After returning to the Grandview area, Florence helped her folks who operated a boarding house for men of the logging era. Florence also had a restaurant on West Main Street in Ashland - famous for her pasties and great food. As the years passed she worked at Webbens Walgreen Drug Store also in Downtown Ashland alongside her daughter Evelyn. Florence was married to Reino Eskola and they moved to Kenosha and resided there for twenty years. After retirement she moved back to Ashland to be surrounded by her children and many relatives.
Predeceased by her parents Edward and Alfreda Anderson; her daughter Evelyn Bartol, son Daniel Ruberg, sisters Lillian Kosta and Elsie Anderson, brothers Royal, Walter, Harold, and Melvin Anderson.
Survived by ten grandchildren Linda (Dennis)Zak, Debra (Robert)Stanley, Pamela (Roger)Dewey, Bruce (Sandy)Ruberg, Brenda(Daryl)Pagac, Brandle(Denise) Ruberg, Barb(Scott) Mika, Belinda Ruberg, Brent(Dawn) Ruberg, & Daniel Ruberg. Numerous Great grandchildren, Great-Great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also a loving son-in-law L. Peter (Mary) Bartol, and daughter-in-law Jane Ruberg. Sisters-in-law: Delma Anderson and Ruth Anderson.
Florence enjoyed a full life surrounded by a large loving family and many dear friends. She will be remembered for her love of her family, her great cooking and strong work ethic. She loved sharing stories about her family to anyone who would listen and will be sadly missed by each and every one of them.
A graveside service and inurnment will take place in the Moe Cemetery in the Town of Lincoln, on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10:00 AM.
